The Spirit of Harmony Foundation (SOHF) is delighted to be working with Musical Mentors Collaborative (MMC), a nonprofit that brings music instruction to under-resourced youth around the United States, in both in-person and on-line teaching environments.
Since its founding in 2013, the Spirit of Harmony has envisioned creating mentoring opportunities for our many talented musicians and supporters who are interested in sharing their knowledge with children learning their instrument at various skill levels. Musical Mentors Collaborative provides the structure and logistics needed to realize this vision and provides these opportunities to our supporters. A formal teaching background is not required to become an effective mentor.
MMC works with the mentors; matching an individual with student(s) at an appropriate skill level as well as aiding the mentor to develop a curriculum. A Musical Mentor becomes part of a community designed to help them grow as educators and musicians through training, professional development, mentorship, and connection with other teaching artists.
This partnership between the SOHF and MMC aligns perfectly with Todd’s vision as truly being the “E-Harmony” of Music Education, connecting a person who possesses the knowledge and skills with a young person who wants to learn and benefit from playing music.
